Capture the rich tapestry of sounds within the environment around you with the Sonorous Objects In-Ear Binaural Microphones. Recorded sounds produce a stunningly realistic first-person 3D sound field; with precise positioning and movement of both the wearer as well as the subjects being recorded. Recordings feature a realistic layered spatial representation of the sound as your ears perceive it.

The microphones are worn in your ears, just as you would wear ear buds or AirPods. The microphones replicate the way that you hear due to the physical separation that your head provides between the microphones, as well as the unique shape of your ears.

Offered in EM272 and EM258 variants, our in-ear mics have the same highly sensitive, low noise, and detailed nuanced sound as our other microphones. Our in-ear mics, together with the array on either side of your head, provide a breathtakingly realistic spatial image and deep soundstage. The SO In-Ear Microphones utilize Primo's highly regarded EM272 / EM258 capsule, favorites among field recordists, sound designers, location sound, and artists working with sound. The Primo EM272 and EM258 capsules excel at capturing textural nuances, dynamic transients and reverberation/spatial information. When placed in your ears, the microphones provide precise imaging and a stunning sense of realism.

Included with the microphones are a variety of ear tip sizes and shapes. We designed the mics to be compatible with common third-party ear tips, allowing you to use your favorite ear tips with your microphones. The microphones design allows for the addition of foam windscreens (included), or furry windscreens to aid in reducing wind noise. The microphones are housed in a plastic enclosure produced and fabricated here in NYC. We use high quality hand braided Mogami shielded cable that terminates in a Neutrik Gold Right Angle 3.5mm plug.  Overall length from microphone to termination is 4 1/2 ft.

The SO In-Ear Binaural Microphones can be used with any USB-C equipped phone or computer. Use the SO USB-C Audio Interface for 3.5mm Cables by Saramonic to directly connect your SO In-Ear Binaural Microphones!

FAQ

What is the difference between the SO Standard Series and SO.100 Series microphones?

The sonic performance between the SO Standard Series and the SO.100 series is the same as both microphone product lines use the same Primo capsules in them. The difference between the two pertains to the physical size of the mics and the included/compatible accessories.

The SO.100 series is 20mm in diameter and is likely to be more compatible with more third party accessories. The SO.100 series have a typical male XLR termination and can be used with any typical XLR cable. The SO.100 series does not include any accessories.

The SO Standard Series mics are much smaller (11mm in diameter), terminate in male mini XLR, use proprietary cables (mini XLR to XLR or 3.5mm) and include some accessories (foam windscreen, alligator clip, cable type of choice (XLR or 3.5mm) We’ve designed and offer a range of accessories to be used with the SO Standard Series - Magnetic Mounts, Stereo XY/ORTF/AB array mounts etc.. The length of the included XLR cable can be extended by connecting any typical XLR cable.
