The SO.4 Lav microphone brings ultrasonic and incredibly detailed sound to a small form factor lavalier design. The SO.4 Lav features the same acclaimed sound as its larger siblings, the SO.4 Ultrasonic Microphone & SO.104 Ultrasonic Microphone, in a significantly smaller and even more portable package.

The SO.4 Lav is an ultrasonic omni microphone with a natural and extended frequency range. These highly versatile and sensitive mini lavalier microphones are housed in a PLA plastic body. The SO.4 Lav is great for capturing soundscapes, spatial depth, sound decay as well as the most intricate details and micro nuances. Utilizing the Primo EM258 capsule, the microphone has excellent ultrasonic frequency response and can capture audio well into the ultrasonic range (up to 70k!). Because the SO.4 Lav is omnidirectional, its pickup response is similar to that of the human ear. The EM258 capsule is a favorite among field recordists, sound designers, location sound, artists working with sound, and especially those seeking to record in the ultrasonic range.

We designed the SO.4 Lav to be compatible with all of your favorite Sonorous Objects Standard Series microphone accessories.

The SO.4 Microphone enclosure is fabricated in-house and is assembled by hand in NYC.

FAQ

What is the difference between the SO Standard Series and SO.100 Series microphones?

The sonic performance between the SO Standard Series and the SO.100 series is the same as both microphone product lines use the same Primo capsules in them. The difference between the two pertains to the physical size of the mics and the included/compatible accessories.

The SO.100 series is 20mm in diameter and is likely to be more compatible with more third party accessories. The SO.100 series have a typical male XLR termination and can be used with any typical XLR cable. The SO.100 series does not include any accessories.

The SO Standard Series mics are much smaller (11mm in diameter), terminate in male mini XLR, use proprietary cables (mini XLR to XLR or 3.5mm) and include some accessories (foam windscreen, alligator clip, cable type of choice (XLR or 3.5mm) We’ve designed and offer a range of accessories to be used with the SO Standard Series - Magnetic Mounts, Stereo XY/ORTF/AB array mounts etc.. The length of the included XLR cable can be extended by connecting any typical XLR cable.
